I have been recruiting a long time, and I have seen more than I care to of the eccentricities of the human nature over the past 14 years. Every once in a while, I am stumped. I contacted this developer about a position with a company in the radio industry, and this is the response I got.

How would you respond?

email below...

I'd be extremely interested in this position. The first thing I would want to know, though, is what types of music? I am a born-again Christian and will
not work on projects that promote immorality. As I'm sure you know,
the modern music industry is notorious for that type of
content...

Please let me know more about the content involved and I may be very interested.

Thanks!

gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. If you confess
with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has
raised Him from the dead, you will be saved -- for with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him
will not be put to shame."

Wow Sandra, I need to hire you to write my responses. I am impressed. I think I will just call him though & use a few bullet points from your response.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

So to close the loop on this thread, this is the response I got from the candidate...

I think I'll have to pass. However, please contact me again if you have any other opportunities I would qualify for!

Thanks!

Now I wonder what today will bring. You have to love people in this job, all of them.

If any vacancies should come up for moonbeams, he sounds the ideal candidate. :-)

Wow, so you told the candidate that they would be working for a company that served radio stations of all different formats, and they still passed? I thought times were tough, lol.. anyway, not that it would have worked for sure, but I wouldn't have been scared to say " look chuckles, the opportunity for you to be offended by sin exists everywhere you might want to look - are you done starving your kids and failing your family based on your principles yet?"..I don't care how pious one is, you don't have "the peace of jesus" if you can't pay the rent or the phone bill.

Anyway, too bad your candidate let ya down..the right one is out there somewhere..

Chuckles? hilarious. He was just one of many. I have 4 awesome candidates for the position that could easily exceed expectations and um "chuckles" for lack of a better identifier is currently working. I think that interviewing is a bit like dating, there is never just one perfect "chuckles", usually there's at least 10-25 in the world that will do.
