The arrest of Rosa Parks ignited the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott that launched the Civil Rights Movement 57 years ago.  When the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., joined the bus boycott, in a leadership role, it propelled Dr. King onto the national and world stage.
