Total Back Office Solutions can give you recruitment agency formation advice

The skills system in the UK should be simplified, according to the Recruitment Society, which may be of interest to those looking to set up a recruitment agency.

This comment follows assertions from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development that there is a productivity gap between UK companies and their overseas competitors - and that this is being caused by poor management and unclear skills systems.

Steve Huxman, chairman of the Recruitment Society, comments that many companies are multinational and therefore it is illogical to talk about management skills in just one country, as employees are trained in various locations.

However, he believes that the skills system does need simplifying.

"What you should do is identify the need at all levels whether it is in apprenticeships, supporting management development [or] vocational learning," he comments, noting that guidance on this should then be kept very simple.
