Proximity to work is the most important factor when choosing where to live for Londoners, which may interest those trying to set up a recruitment agency.

This is according to a survey published by Santander Mortgages, which shows that those living in the capital value proximity to work above all other factors when selecting a location to live.

A total of 34 per cent of London respondents cited this as the most important element.

Across the rest of the UK, living close to family and friends was cited as the most important thing, with 39 per cent of selecting it as their first choice.

Meanwhile, just 28 per cent of residents throughout the UK gave work-related reasons as an important consideration when choosing a home.
