I know we all don't know each other personally on RBC just yet, but if I may, I wanted to pass on a heartfelt request for help for the Hire A Hero foundation. This non-profit foundation is special to me as I've seen many returning disabled vets (some severely) benefit from Hire A Hero efforts. As a former Marine, this really means so much to me. And believe it or not, it's completely free so please take advantage of it! Anyway, here's the email I received this morning regarding the "ONE MILLION THANK YOU'S CHALLENGE!":

"Dear Joshua,

I am asking your help in getting Hire A Hero's first ever fundraising campaign off the ground. Hire A Hero is challenging the nation to post ONE MILLION messages of thanks to our service members between Memorial Day and Independence Day. We are asking people to donate (we are a non-profit) before they post a message but it is not required. We are not asking for donations from you, our members, because you have already given so much in service of our country.

As the Executive Director of Hire A Hero I am asking you to log in to the site and post a "thank you" message to those who have served our country, on the One Million Thank You's message board. (you can access the message board under "Community Blogs" or on the left hand side of the screen). Most of you have served your country so it may seem a little odd to thank yourself. If it helps imagine the words of gratitude you might say to your buddy who had your back when times got rough. I am asking this of you in order to get this campaign jump started. We need a critical mass of messages before the public is likely to take notice.

Additionally, I am asking that you forward this message on to your friends and family. Please give them the opportunity to thank you. We would love a small donation (a few dollars), but what is most important to us is that you encourage them to post a message of gratitude on the message board. Posting is free! Below is the message we are sending out to non-members who we know care about our service members.

"Are you looking for a way to make a difference in the lives of our service members?

Hire A Hero is challenging the nation to post ONE MILLION messages of thanks to our service members between Memorial Day and Independence Day.

We know how important it is for our service members and veterans to understand that our nation appreciates their sacrifices. Now there is a message board where you can express your gratitude to those who sacrifice and serve to protect your freedom. Imagine the message we will be sending the troops: One million people express their thanks in a little over 30 days. Service members can browse and search the messages to see for themselves how much their sacrifices are appreciated.

This challenge is part of a fundraising campaign to raise money for Hire A Hero and its Wounded Warriors to Work program. (However, no donation is required to post a Thank You message). Post and/or donate now! It takes less than 10 minutes of your time.
