I'd like to sell my Database and Contingency Service Agreements.  We have an excellent Website as well.   We specialise in placing Mechanical Engineers specifically Energy Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, and Design Professionals.

 

I'm not looking for that much.  Does anyone have ideas on how to attract potential buyers?

Having known a few people who have used business brokers in the past, I can say none were very happy with the results, or lack of. This site could be a good forum to see if there is any interest, or to network with people who might know someone else who is interested in possibly buying a recruiting agency. And I would definitely see if a post in a LinkedIn group or as your status brings any response. Do you have an idea of what you plan to ask for it? Depending on why you are selling your business you could look at offering options to buyers, such as a lower upfront dollar amount for the database and then an ongoing percentage of placements made for a certain timeframe.

 

Just a few thoughts I had if we were considering buying another agency:

Is the database current, and are they people that I can't (or haven't yet)  already find?

Are your clients that you have agreements with currently hiring (open job orders), are they going to automatically use the people who buy your business?

Of course, you will have to let interested parties perform due diligence to be sure they are not acquiring any debt or legal issues.

 

 

Call your biggest local competitor, tell them you are considering selling your business. If you have some exclusive clients they would like to have they will make you an offer.
