Once you tell people you work as a recruiter, how do you explain to them that you are not just a glorified telemarketer?
It's already hard enough for people to grasp the idea of you working remotely for the USA. Even harder for them to understand that you don't look for Argentines to work in the USA, nor Americans to work in Argentina. Since It takes over 5 minutes (in general) for them to understand that I work as if I were a recruiter in the USA just that I do their work for a fraction of their cost; I just give up and let them believe I'm a Telemarketer.

How do you do it?
Do you have anything fun to share... share it with the rest of us.

I would say that I work as a "selector of personal" (Federico's Gonzalez Caro recently add this new job title ) or Staffing/HR consultant for different top fortune companies in the States..and is the answer it's still ..."Oh, so You are a telemarketer like the ones in India..." It would be because that person that you're trying to explain have no IDEA about what outsourced companies are or do...therefore, no idea about life!..I recommend to move on with your life..
If you are speaking to someone outside of the HR space in the US, all you have to say is that you are a recruiter. Explaining it to Argentines is a different matter. My perspective is clearly from engaging US clients at a Business and Product Development level. It is important when engaging potential candidates to state who you are. I would only add that you are in Argentina if you think it will break the ICE. If you are receiving comments that they think your role is a Telemarketer then you should not be assessing them for a potential client search (Not too bright)- Again it all depends on the level of education the search criterion has. Less education - the higher probability that certain Corporate jargon might be misunderstood. Position yourself as a professional that has the clients' and candidates' best interest. Don't let them focus on where you are from but what you can do for them.
