I've been in the biz for over nine years and have seen various letters behind people's names in places and as I endeavor to make myself look legitimate, I considered doing the CPC deal until I found out that you have to join NAPS and pay dues to hold the distinguished CPC title. Does anyone else think that this is a scam? Or is it just me? What is the deal?

Are there any LEGIT certifications that don't suck you in to a renewing cost?

Thanks,
Drue

If you've been in the business for nine years, you shouldn't have to worry about 'appearing' legitimate. You should be well regarded and well known. CPC is a worthy designation, it's not a scam. Clients don't care about certifications though, all they care about is your reputation for filling jobs.
Thanks Pam! I was being a bit tongue in cheek in my comments about legitimacy. It just struck me as funny/odd that you have to pay a dues to get a certification... I can understand paying for the test, but whatever.

Have a great day!
