I met Greg Rokos of The Rokos Group about seven years ago. We were both exhibiting at an HR conference in Sacramento, CA. This was pre-social media and about a year before LinkedIn. The only kind of networking we used to do was standing in an exhibit hall and trading business cards. Remember those days? I have a little trouble remembering what it was like. Anyway, we exchanged pleasantries and have stayed in touch off and on over the years. Recruiters tend to do that. Network, the old-fashioned way..., Smith-Barney has nothing on us.

Greg has ventured beyond his executive recruitment front door a bit these days. He saw a need and decided to step in and see what, if anything, he could do about it. Rokos has personally logged many a mile on an airplane as he interviewed numerous candidates and met with various clients. Additionally, like most executive recruiters, he has spent a pretty penny and a significant amount of time holed up in a Fed-Ex office conducting interviews via video conference.

There has to be a better way. Lo and behold, he came up with one. GreenJobInterview.com eliminates the need to fly, or rent a conference room, or purchase expensive video-conferencing equipment. With the use of an inexpensive webcam, microphone, and internet connection, long distance interviewing just got easier. In-depth and practically in-person, virtual interviews provide the opportunity for in-house recruiters, as well as third-party search firms to do their due diligence more economically.

I asked Greg a stupid question, "Why?" I already knew the answer but he was happy to indulge me. After more than twenty years in the search and recruiting industry, Greg was ready for a bigger challenge and he recognized the needed improvement in the way we conduct long-distance interviews. Travel was becoming increasingly expensive and time out of the office for both the interviewer and interviewee is also very costly. GreenJobInterview.com opens new doors and allows recruiters to do their jobs better. Companies benefit and retention is improved. The hiring process is enhanced and it's just so darn easy. Don't we all want that?
