Session Topic:
Perfect Strangers: Getting to know the real applicant

Session Description:
The downfall of almost all background screening searches is they expect the candidate to be honest. You assume the applicant is providing his / her correct name, date of birth, driver’s license number and Social Security number. However, in today’s identity theft day and age, you can no longer make this assumption.
In this session, attendees will learn the pitfalls of typical background screening processes and why the first step in any background check should be identity verification and authentication to ensure the identity exists and that the applicant owns that identity. For example, criminal searches use an applicant’s name and date of birth, thus by simply altering his or her name the applicant fools the employer into searching a clean criminal record instead of the applicant’s actual one.
