Social networking forums like LinkedIn and Twitter can help recruiters expand their reach.

Starting a recruitment company can be turned into a more profitable venture by utilising modern tools such as social networking sites, which can help to sell the brand.

Recruiters who take advantage of platforms like peer-to-peer site LinkedIn can not only make contacts while interacting with other industry insiders, but also market their brand.

Other popular forums, including Facebook and Twitter, can also be beneficial and businesses should focus on quality rather than quantity when it comes to amassing Twitter followers, according to social media consultants 1000heads.

"Reach is important because you need to reach the right amount of people to have an impact, but you need to reach a group of people that really support the view of the brand," explained account director Katy Woodrow Hill.

This group of people "would advocate you and understand what you are doing" and then go on to spread the message to a wider audience, she added.
