Recruiters should consider outsourcing some work to "better external partners" to ensure standards remain high.

The Recruitment Society has called on recruiters to treat candidates searching for work in a good manner, those looking to outsource back office services to an agency may want to take note.

Resent research from SHL revealed that one fifth of recruiters do not give detailed feedback to unsuccessful candidates, while 17 per cent fail to let interviewees know if they have been unsuccessful.

Commenting on the study, Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, stated that "your candidates of today may be your customers of tomorrow or your clients of tomorrow".

"I think that is a golden rule that anybody who is recruiting should remember," he explained, adding that the findings highlighted "a failure on every level" and how poor recruitment practices risk damaging a company's image.

Mr Huxham called on recruiters to either hire extra people to give feedback to candidates or outsource the work to "better external partners to make sure it's done".
