The Federation of Small Businesses' has called on the government to "think small first".

Self employed individuals looking into recruitment agency accounting and other back office solutions could benefit from the Federation of Small Businesses' (FSB) calls to the government to "think small first".

The organisation has written to the chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne ahead of the emergency budget on June 22nd, urging him to come up with measures which will inspire confidence in small firms.

According to the FSB, timing is vital for any new measures as small businesses do not have the financial cushions available to be able to absorb changes such as an increase in VAT, compared to big businesses.

"The chancellor must use the budget to set out his pro-business credentials and offer something to stimulate growth," stated FSB national chairman John Walker.

"It is imperative that any changes to capital gains tax or VAT go hand-in-hand with an ambitious plan for helping economic growth through allowing small firms to employ, grow, invest and innovate."

The latest Report on Jobs from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG revealed that demand for accountants, human resource professionals, software developers and chefs is high.
