"Let me know if I can be of service"? What are you offering?
  • Donato Diorio

I design products that solve problems that recuiters and sourcers face on a daily basis. The best place to find ideas is listening to challenges people are facing.
  • Amybeth Hale

Thanks for being my friend here :) I'm working on the project - really want this to work!
  • Glenn Gutmacher

Interesting statement from the "chief evangelist" of Broadlook products. I'd say powerful, not sure about elegant. But it's nice to see you have that as a goal! :)
  • Matthew Haver

Business is good. I specialize in technical and logistics recruiting. Let me know if there is anything we can work on together in the future.

Funny. I remember you and I talked on the phone many many years ago.

Great interview on the Recruiting Animal Show. I do like your story about building rapport with the technical guy using the cooking usenet group. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet you at SourceCon. I did get your email and I have downloaded the Diver install file and will be trying it soon. Thanks.

Jason, great dog, your voice is much higher pitched than I remember. Our newfie puppies just hit 7 pounds at about 2 1/2 weeks.

I have no challenges...I am not a recruiter! I used to be though, and it was continuously filling your pool with new, qualified people.
  • Gary Perman

Hi Donato. first - I love Broadlook, Profiler is my best friend.
I changed my business model this year and place MPC's, so I have a good stable of employed candidates ready to jump ship when I surface a great situation for them.
Matching my stable of MPC's with Companies who have a need is the biggest challenge.
Too many recruiters out there in this business for the wrong reasons - its not all about money. Too many untrained recruiters discounting fees below 20% and allowing companies to treat them as "vendors".
  • Donato Diorio

Gary, you made me think. Sooo many people talk about us as "Broadlook" ...(usually the unitiated and uninformed). Broadlook is not one product, but so many people are under that impression. We need to change that...I think that will be my next blog posting. Thank you for the nice comments on Broadlook's Profiler and thank you for the inspiration.

Too bad we won't be going

Once we hit 10k, I'll announce it

There are interesting programs that will jibberish poems. When people post stuff that is out of context (i.e. telling an ATS vendor that they can help them with their staffing positions)...you should reply with a jibberish poem. Maybe Haiku

    Peter's Haiku generator

    Mud burns perfumed dogs.
    Happiness turns for priests work.
Women sleep then green, fearing money walks.

    Streets forever melt a man.
    Violins lurk then winds sing.

I know but I love it
  • Dave Schlee

I would definitely say that "Delivery" is our biggest challenge today. Finding qualified candidates to fill our positons in a tight market. There are more jobs out there in the IT space than qualified people, and we need to go the extra mile to attract and retain talent.
  • Seema Khatri

    hi Donato

i actually don't do much of recruiting now a days, but i have worked as an IT recruiter two years bac. even now i work for IT staffing firm and do recruit occasionally...as far as challenges are concerned now a days are the budget cuts and definitely delivery issues..you gotta have a very strong hold on the candidates.......
  • Robin Gillman

My greatest challenge right now is the economy and the client side. I am very good at finding the candidates and closing the deal. I am also a very good HR Business Partner and help my clients in many ways. However, the mortgage crisis has had a profound impact on business in general.
  • Dale Karwowski

I find that closing the loop with candidates could be significantly improved. Too many times the candidate is left siiting there with no clue as to why the opportunity did not progress. Has it come a business where people do not care about one another. I feel it is our professional courtesy and obligation.

Also it is hard to find that passion and burning fire in someone.
  • Pam Kortekamp

Hi Donato- I have taken a look at broadlook is it very expensive?
    thanks Pam
  • C. B. Stalling!!

Getting managers to make the hire.!!!!
  • John Lilley

Finding, Attracting, Hiring and Retaining quality recruiters that truly see recruitment as a career rather than just a job.

Been a while since I have looked at how broadlook are doing. Any new developments worth looking at?
  • Jennifer Berry

An uncompetitive compensation plan, and executives who don't listen to the market. I am about 10k+ below market on virtually all jobs, but I am still filling jobs. (Just not as fast as they would like.) And also not having a recruiting budget is a bit of a hassle - if it's free I use it, if not I go without... I've filled 22 high value jobs in the last 90 days and I spent $550.
  • Derek Hayes

I can't really say. Each client has a different job specification. For some it may be the location or maybe the duration. But these don't really matter. There is always a worthy candidate if one tries their best to find him/her.
  • Karen Lynn

    Thanks Donato Diorio/ CEO
I answer everyone who ask this question the same way... my greatest challenge is not being challenged. This is also my greatest asset.
  • Karen Lynn

    What's your's?
  • Adrianna Ramirez

Hello and TGIF! I guess my toughest challenge would be making the hiring managers to go "faster", I guess I run too fast that I just want all of those managers to go as fast I do but as my old VP said "patience is a virtue"....
  • Jason Vallandigham

    Hi Donato,

At the moment, my greatest challenge is to land a new contract or full time role. My last couple of years have been spent at Google, and now I'm off to find something new. As a working recruiter, my greatest challenge is in getting referrals and leap-frogging from referral to referral. Once I have a solid candidate, I am golden.

    Best,

    Jason
  • Libby Gilmore Trammell

I haven't been on a desk as a recruiter in over 10 years but as a senior executive and Managing Director of National Recruiting for a Staffing firm, I've worked very closely with my recruiting teams in developing strategic and tactical plans to source and attract new talent. Our clients have typically been the Fortune 500 with large VMO's along with some mid-markets firms. We see them wanting top notch candidates with a laundry list of specific skills but not willing to pay for the expertise. As Jennifer Berry stated, they aren't in tune with the shrinking talent market and the demand for quality talent.

I'm currently looking for a new opportunity as a recruiting director, staffing director or branch manager in the Dallas Tx area.
  • Andrew Reber

I would have to say that the greatest challenge for me right now is finding candidates who meet the higher quality standards and lower compensation levels our clients seem to be striving for right now.
  • LisaBoaz

I would say a combination of meeting the "great expectations" of the Client as well as getting the Client to make a timely decision on the candidate.
