LinkedIn...Great tool or the end of recruiting as we know it?? Dunt, Dunt, Daaaahhhhh!

OK, LinkedIn is great and easy. I have 1000+ and I am actively trying to get more.  I do not like typing a lot, so I will try to make my point quickly and then ask your thoughts.

The thing that scares me about LinkedIn is its ease.  You do not have to be a great recruiter to go on and find a handful of people that fit your need.  Further, these are people not on traditional job boards.  Also, with seemingly more companies spending money on HR functions, these internal recruiters have access to all the things we do.  That is why I am skeptical to link to internal HR sometimes.  I also very rarely connect to other recruiters.  Sorry guys, I love you but....

So, is my concern valid?  How will LinkedIn change recruiting?  Better?  Worse? or just different??

Hi Ronald.

I think the real talent in recruiting is not the identification of talent these days. Most recruiters are not short on candidates to call who have the skills for the order they have written.

Most people don't come to work thinking today is the day I am going to change my mind about being happy at my current job. The real art is being able to make the candidate see that when they say I am happy, you can ask the question compared to what without sounding like an ass.

The video you did about 99 things was great. You should make some more.

You don't have to be a great recruiter to pick up the phone either.

LinkedIn has been around a long time, and is a force no matter how we feel about it.

use the tools, no sense in fretting about them.
