Is the FBI recruiting straight out of college for these roles?

The FBI posted openings for 850 special agents and more than 2,100 professional support personnel. Officials say it's the largest FBI job posting since immediately after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Back in the early 90's the FBI wanted white collar professionals...a move from the CPA types. Unfortunately, my then to be wife was very clear about her opposition to moving - which was a requirement.

With the recent news of "intelligent appointments", it will be interesting to see the direction these critical agencies take given the lack of experience from their leadership. It has to be very frustrating to the professionals that are willing to put their life on the line for our country.
Well said! I turned the Bureau down in the mid 90's after College and NAVY obligation. I had top secret clearance and graduated with a degree in Cognitive Science and still salary offer was horrible... and depending on sector / a move in pay-grade could take more than 5 years. Now... they act like a commercial entity rather than the 'once' prestigious agency that kept us safe. Wonder whats happening within NSA / CIA... Are they recruiting as well?

Thanks for the comment
From my experience, many of our intelligence agencies are recruiting fresh young internet stars to respond to the ever growing threat coming from the internet, but from some of my friends personal experiences they failed to the last the first month.

They primarily sat around at an empty desk with nothing to do, because they had to wait for their clearances to come through. Personally, I think they should have waited to start. But alas, hopefully some organizational skills at the top will help, but would have preferred an appointment with the organizational skills and intelligence background to boot, but I'm not running the country.
