Job Serve announced that they are switching to a P4P method with their online job board service. I wanted to hear from other recruiters to see what everyone thought about this new pricing model.

Here's my take as well as some more details on the announcement by Job Serve.

Hi Frank, I read the news release from Job Serve and I think they are right about making this adjustment to the current economic conditions we are in. As a matter of fact I would guess that we will see a whole new effort in the next few months where business advertises for freelance specialists rather than salaried employees. This is similar to the independent recruiter. A dedicated recruiter concentrates on recruiting for one large company and is on salary, salary + commission, or straight commission. An independent recruiter is usually working on only commission with little or no safety net. I would not be surprised to see other companies follow the lead of Job Serve. Bank of America announced that they were closing 10% of their branches. This is an adjustment in recognition of the fact that more people are doing their banking online and through ATMs. It makes sense. We all must understand that making sense and lowering costs of operations are here to stay for a very long time.
