All around us technology is changing our world. My two teenagers were showing me some videos on YouTube and both, in their infinite wisdom, said, "I hate the changes they have made to YouTube." and "Why can't they just leave it alone?" I guess I have come to a point in my understanding and experience that I barely notice when a change is made to a new media site. YouTube is part of my every day, just as Twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, and RecruitingBlogs are. If I complained or worried at all about the changes made to these sites, I would have a severe case of heartburn and brewing a significant ulcer by now.

Changes are necessary. Every day we watch Apple/Mac come out with a new product soon to be copied or bested by Microsoft or Google. At least, a serious attempt to best is made. No one tech company can afford to rest on its laurels, for the minute they do, they will be looking at the hind end and choking on the dust of their nearest competitor. It is just the way of new tech development and early adoption. Basically, you snooze, you lose.

There are those of us in the recruiting community that have long embraced what technology can do for our business, be it the fax machine fifteen+ years ago, email ten+ years ago, or social media five+ years ago. And now we face the impact of what real time search will mean. While it is very exciting and I am eager to learn more and participate, my enthusiasm is often hampered by the skeptics that roam among us, those that poo-poo the reality that lies before us, those that belittle the infuence twitter has already had and the intrigue of what lies next for facebook when linked with businesses.

I find it interesting that the powerhouses of new media: Google, LinkedIn, facebook, as well as plaxo and myspace have allied, so to speak, with Twitter. What does it all mean? Where will we be next year at this time or even six months from now? Changes take place daily. Life moves pretty fast. (Bueller)

I started a recruitment for a Client Services Manager two days ago. I intend to use new media throughout the course of finding the right placement; job boarding as well as double checking resumes and online profiles. I will also use new media to check out the hotel I will be staying at in Minneapolis next week, as well as a theater I will be going to next month. How we do business, how we conduct our lives is changing as quickly as the format of facebook. 
Get on board because history is being made daily.

Congrats on #300. I just posted my 100th consecutive blog last night, and 300 seems like a long ways off. Who knew writing could be such fun.
