Recruiting Tools Forum is back and Using Domain names to attract candidates as part of your recruiting strategy...

So for those of who don't already know the RecruitingTools forum is re-opening... It never really closed but I'll be moderating some thoughts here. Previously I wrote on RecruitingTools.com which is still active but going through a significant over haul.

Enough with that stuff...

Do you? How are you? and What are your thoughts on? Using Domain names to attract candidates as part of your recruiting strategy... I've got a boat load of domains myself and I know a few others on RBC do as well. I am interested to read what others are doing with this?

What I've done with success:

  1. Job sites specific to the domain and ONLY using my jobs but requiring the prospect to register to get access.
  2. Using the domain simply as a forwarding address to clients or internal career sites
  3. Forwarding back to my LinkedIn profile OR one of the groups I run on LinkedIn specific to the client etc.

Thoughts?

Domain names are one part of SEO but it's not going to shoot you to #1.  It would take a lot more like back-links, content, social media etc.  It does help like if you have javajobs.com and you have a lot of content with java jobs it definitely helps.  But I would recommend going out and buying a bunch of domains and expect to be #1.
