What is the most efficient way to search for candidates on the internet?

I am having a hard time trying to figure out what the best sources are for finding candidates on the internet. There are so many different sales pitches it's hard to know which way to go, any suggestions? I am brand new to recruiting and I am spending way too many hours with out coming up with much.

Also, if you have his LinkedIn profile look at his recommendations and click on those profiles also. One of them might have an email address attached if they are a LION or open networker. Then you could use that to get an introduction. If you don't have the tools sometimes you just need to be creative. Let me know if it works.
