Sound advice to job seekers here like Yes, the economic climate and job market are miserable. But that doesn't give us license to throw our professionalism out the window.

and After all, if a recruiter thinks that you can't keep it together for a quick 10-minute phone call, how can they recommend you to the clients who are paying them to find top-notch, rock-solid candidates?

Thanks Julia for posting it., and Special thanks to Eric Gilson for sharing it.

The best part in this article is

"Likewise, if you're asked to apply for a job via a recruiting firm's Web site or you're asked to do a preliminary phone screen with a recruiter, don't balk or flat-out refuse. In the world of recruiting, both are standard operating procedure. And if you don't play the recruiter's way, they'll just find another candidate who will. "

Cheer's,
Gopi.
I'm not surprised by the negative comments. I thought the whole article had a very dismissive, unsympathetic tone to it, and though I agreed with some of it, I didn't with all. I don't think its okay not to get back to people if you've spoken to them. People appreciate timely feedback even it's not good news, they'd still rather know and as soon as possible. I also don't have a problem with candidates oversharing to me. The more information I have, the more effective I can be in helping them, and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and trust that they know what not to say in an interview. They're adults and for the most part, it's rarely an issue.
