Re-humanize yourself.... I work all day at the factory....I'm building a machine that's not for me.... There must be a reason that I can't see....You've got to humanize yourself -The Police

Lessons from the music world pertaining to employers dont come around often, but these lyrics ring true for today's recruiters.

Your company is faceless!

Thats right, my fellow friends, your company has no identity other than the image of a big impersonal corporate entity that sucks in employees and spits them out at will.

But how do you counter the image of this poor employment brand?

You fight back of course through social media. Social media is your friend because it can humanize your company. It can lift the veil off of your employees, you remember them don't you?...the ones that make the widgets, ...the ones that provide the services that engage your customers.

Organizations that embrace this concept will be the winners in employment branding. It is they who will be thought of as an 'employer of choice'. It is they who will beat you for the best talent.

From my standpoint today's companies must become publishers in a social media world. They need to be on Facebook, they need to Twitter, they need to podcast and have a Youtube channel. But I'm not just talking about scripted corporate content. I'm talking about from the heart, real conversations about your workplace, both the good and bad.

While you're there allow your employees to showcase themselves and talk to people. Let them put a face on your company. Let them build relationships. Only then, can you begin to shape your company's image.

Listen up executives, your company is already being talked about in these places but your voice is not being heard. Isn't it time you talked back?
