It's been three years since I logged in here... glad to be back!   So, a that time, it was 2011 and we were clawing our way out of the recession with temp jobs on the rise as everyone looked ahead to growth in permanent placements.  The boom of employer branding initiatives and spending that we saw in the early 2000's had declined greatly, as companies were far less focused on attracting or keeping talent.  And the expansion in the number of web 3.0 sites that are characterized by personalized user experiences was beginning to change how big data can be applied to recruiting.

So... what's changed?

Mobile? I partially kid, but a fair question to ask. But than again it has only been a few years.

In any case - thanks for logging in Jason and re-adding your voice to the mix.

I don't think much has changed other than the year in front of the statistics about the exact same topics we've been talking about. That said, it's a fascinating question - what do you think?

Thanks Tim, glad to be back.  I do think Mobile is certainly expanded in the past three years.  I just put together a presentation on the state of recruitment 2014, and some great data about the fast growth of mobile and smartphone access in the US.  I'd go so far as to predict that manufacturers will stop producing non-smartphones within the next two years.  The money for carriers is in data, so I'm presuming they'll be driving the market.

Matt, I used to snicker at people espousing the impact of big data on recruitment, but I do think it's coming to fruition now.  With Web 3.0 every new website built today is allowing for some type of personalization of the user experience.  When I think about personalization I think about profile building on the back end, and I believe this change in how people interact with web destinations will drive a greater focus on leveraging those profiles for all sorts of actions, recruitment among them.

Other than that, the landscape does look mostly unchanged.

Indeed: recruiting (and other) salaries/rates stagnate, while hype and ******** deluge the land.... Same old, same old....
