I should admit that I thought that LI should enhance performance and fix some bugs before they add ANY new features. (In software development, adding features typically makes things slower and creates new bugs). Well, I think I have changed my mind. I like the new LI Groups. Is seems like the groups present some new opportunities in quickly finding the right candidates.

As an example, I am looking for SAP consultants with a Big Four Consulting background (Deloitte, Accenture, etc., a variety of companies, more than 4 for certain reasons).

Today I was able to go to the "Big Four Firm Global Alumni Group" on LI and do a search for "SAP consultant". It gave me 169 profiles, which I am able to review and send personal messages to those who have the profiles that match our jobs. Nice!

Anybody else has had some good experiences?

Hi Irina

Linkedin has changed few things dramatically, a similar kind of problem we faced sine last week. We were not allowed to mass mail to connections which which earlier had a limit of 50 connections at a time but now it permits only 10 connections at a time. I guess Linkedin is probably getting into job board market as it has a very unique database with more than 20 million different profile to chose from. Things which were free earlier are getting paid gradually, limiting the free account to get converted into paid account.

Hi Vineet,

Thanks for your posting. Are you talking about emailing to your first level connections? You can mass-email all of them, no limits, outside of LI, using MS Word for example. (Or to some of them based on their profile if you wish.)
Or did you talk about something else?
Since I do not have a paid account I may be missing something.

Actually Irina actually we have a team of source's who help us source candidates from Linkedin from big5 consulting firms for ERP only, but they were restricted from sending mail to only 10 connections and they had to manually send mails to 10 connections at a time which earlier had limit to 50 connections, things have changed a lot in Linkedin
Hi Vineet,
I am sorry I am not clear. Which "connections"? A LI user's connections?

yeah our linkedin user connections
Vineet,

Here's a time saving advice for you. You could do the following. Go to the user's connections page and select "export" (at the bottom of the page). You will get an Excel table with ALL of the connections. You could then select the connections you would like to email to (for example filter on the title). You could copy and save the list of the target emails in a text file. You could then use the MS Word's mass email feature that works with MS Outlook - or a mass email tool of your choice. There will be no limit on the number of emails sent.
Of course this needs to be used with caution.
Hope that helps,

Irina

Yes Irina.

We were founded using social networking, and primarily LinkedIn.

There are alot of great community resources that are open through LinkedIn Groups despite it's recent limitations that truncated a many groups membership on LinkedIn, those that established a great off LinkedIn network like here on Ning or Yahoo were never seriously impacted.
