I was going to put this post in the recruiting software section but I think it is more fitting for Recruiting101

this post is about BountyJobs and recruiting. I got an email from them this morning. Was going to write this but forgot to. then I saw a post written by Jason Gorham about them and it re reminded me to write it.

This morning I get an email from a staffing manager at a company called Silicon Labs through the BountyJobs system. It says that they would appreciate if recruiting firms can start sending contact information with the resumes submitted. I chuckled hard.

You should never ever send contact information along with a candidate submission. It's not because you should be afraid that you will get screwed, it's because there needs to be things built into the process that allows you to communicate with hiring managers.

I can talk about this forever but it's Friday night and I'm gonna go get a beer and think about all of the candidates being submitted with contact info that will never get hired today but will in fact become great sources for referrals tomorrow and no money will flow your way.

If you are a third party recruiter, I am telling you, you don't need to send resumes to clients with contact info on it. If the company demands it, find a new client.

Totally agree with you. That's the way I was taught and the way all of my recruiter friends work. Several reasons for it, but the main one is that it strengthens the candidate recruiter relationship, as the more you communicate with the candidate, checking in, scheduling interviews, debriefing, the more you are 'with them' through the process and can make everything go that much more smoothly, because you have all the information, you know what else they have going on, what their concerns are if they have any. That's what some of the companies who use Bountyjobs or other vendor management systems don't get....they want to call the candidates directly and just don't get that the third party recruiter offers much more of a service than just sending a resume.

And as you said, direct communication between recruiter and company contact is essential in building a real partnership relationship.

And of course there's the obvious reason, why make it easy for them to inhale the resume into their ATS system to contact at a later date?
