Stats on direct sourcing models?

Simon Kelly, Sales Director in Software and Technology asks, over on LinkedIn:
Anyone got any statistics on the growing trend for HR organisations to invest in Direct Sourcing models to find candidates? We know this is a growing trend and I am trying to find statistics to back this up, some markets like the US are moving quicker down this road compared to some European markets, keen to see if there are any stats out there.
