LinkedIN Removes a "Can you recommend someone for this job" LINK!

I sent a note to the LinkedIN customer support asking why the "Can you recommend someone for this job" option is no longer avaiable and received this note:

Thank you for contacting LinkedIn Customer Support.

It was removed from everyone unless you have a Job currently posted on the website you can then forward your posting to your connections.

Regards,
LinkedIn Customer Support

I don't see this as a big deal really. You can still easily send the job description note to your first level contacts.
this is true, however it becomes a very manual task, sending 1 at a time. I dont know about you but the more we can automate/delegate it increases our phone time :)

Paul,

You would do it exactly the same way. Write your note with job description, then check off who you want to send it to, click send and it goes to everyone at once.

I thought it was a good feature though there has to be a reason LinkedIn removed it. Perhaps those that paid to post their jobs were getting too many people recommended by recruiters looking for fees when they posted the job specifically to try and fill it themselves and avoid paying a fee. As much as LinkedIn is a tool for recruiters it is also a tool for Managers and HR to fill their own jobs without us and the way things are right now people aren't looking to spend money for a posting and then spend more money for someone referring someone unless its an internal employee.
good point! What they told me was It was removed from everyone account unless you have a Job currently posted on the website, then we can forward our posting to our connections.

LinkedIN is working hard to become a "job board" and reducing ways a recruiter can work their network effectively! One thing is for sure if they squeeze recruiters too hard there are plenty of other social network sites out there just wanting out traffic and connections...Thank goodness for Plaxo and backups!~

I actually wondered why they ever had it at all, as it seems an obvious conflict with their job postings. Why would anyone pay for a job posting when they could simply shoot it around for free to their networks?

I must agree. Linkedin used to listen to their customers. My other pet peeve is the limited size of inmails. There are many times that I would like to send a job spec.

The response was that a shorter InMail messages yields higher response rates. It was also suggested that I use tinyurl.com to make the URL.

After I have a candidate interested, I want to copy and paste the spec into the inmail. I don't want the extra steps. The steps are extra because linkedin doesn't have a customer centric view.
