I am a rookie recruiter, but the founder of the small firm I work for asked me:

 - How relevant or important are business cards in the modern recruiting age?

Any input on handing out business cards in recruiting is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Business cards are promotional materials.  They will keep promoting you even you disappeared into the crowd.  People may not remember your name after you met them, and your business cards will always serve as reminder.

You can do worse than leaving a business card on a pub table.

Nice one John...your words lifted from the movie American Psycho

American Psycho: Business Card Scene

Some business professionals are "psycho" about the impact of their business cards.

It is a great scene.

Yes, a classic scene...where the business card approaches an art form...

Business Cards are absolutely relevant for Recruiters!  Great to leave behind after meeting candidates and leave with friends who know people in their network who might be looking for a new position.  The business card provides easy access to your phone number and email address and company website.  It should also convey a message on the card - something memorable showing what your company does/specializes in.

Definitely.  I can't tell you the amount of business I have received by meeting someone unexpectedly and handing them my card.  It is also helpful if your card is interesting and memorable.

Great question Megan :]

My boss integrated the business card and modern technology by putting a QR Scanner on the back of the card. Whoever scans it, now has all my information and link to Q4B's website. Just to a cool way to cover both ends of the spectrum. Hope all is well!!

In today's world with more new technology being developed consistantly, I'm sure there are plenty of alternative methods of getting your contact details across to the recipient. But I don't think that beats the good old fashion way of handing a business card and getting your name and contact infomration into their wallet than a business card. because more chances than not they will forget your name, until they rediscover it in their wallet! Countless of business has been developed from a out of the blue phone call, which began from a introduction.
