Clearly background screening is the most effective way to protect the recruiter, the employer, and the business form costly hiring mistakes and possible litigation.  To conduct a thorough screening that meets legal requirements requires a unique set of skills and knowledge, thus outsourcing just makes sense.  A couple years ago I read an article published in Occupational Health & Safety titled "Background screening and Safe Hiring" which states: " An employer should look for a professional partner, not just an information vendor selling information at the lowest price."  After some independent research, I developed a list of what employers should look for and what we do at Gold Shield:

  • Provide verification of applicant's name, date of birth, and social security number as well as his/her education and professional license information.
  • Certify that all information provided to the client is in compliance with all federal, state, and local privacy, EEO, FCRA, DPPA, and ADA laws.  And that all databases searches are conducted on FCRA, and DPPA compliant databases.
  • Certifies that a nationwide criminal and sexual predator/offender search was conducted as well as a search of court documents in jurisdictions the applicant has resided.
  • Conducts background screening in their employees.
  • Response time and billing meets your needs.
  • Has specific procedures in place to shield client form protected information that might expose the client to legal liability, and is properly trained in information management.
  • Is willing to work with you to form on cohesive unit.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, would like to set up a program to meet your needs, or have anything to add to this list.  For more information, visit http://www.goldshieldli.com
