Hi. Does anyone know of an organization or group that exists where a sole recruiter can benefit from group rates on health insurance. I've been paying small group rates since I started my business in 2001, but as rates go up.....  I am in NYC, so I can't join AARP, and I don't drive, so AAA is out as well.

Anyone using anything else??  Thanks!!

Hi

Please let me know if you find anything. I have a broker and buy individual insurance and it is very expensive. I am happy to provide his info for you but if you find anywhere to get group benefits please let me know. I am also in NYC.

If you have Kaiser in your area I believe they have a small business plan option. I think you can get group coverage for a group as small as 1.

All the best,

Ben

Thanks Bill, I already have a small group plan.. but it's expensive.. My question was, has anyone found a way to join up with a larger group or organization...

Rachel, thanks.. I have a great broker also... but like yours, they are limited in what they can do for us...

I also wonder if anyone knows how the new health insurance exchanges will affect businesses with 1 employee.

I wanted to revive this discussion, just in case...

There is a Freelancers union.. but it does not include Recruiters.. Which a community as large as ours, you would think we could have our own group....

Thanks!!

This is just an outside-the-box idea that you would need to run by an attorney, but it might be possible to form a consortium of small recruiting firms wherein each member firm gives up a small share of its ownership (say, 1% or 0.5%) to be a member of the consortium.  The consortium would own the small portion of each of its member companies and would in exchange provide access to large group benefits for the employees of its member companies.

I have no idea if this would be legal to do.  Anyone think it's worth discussing?
