I've been in healthcare staffing a for many years now. I'd already had some experience as a healthcare staffing recruiter before I joined my current employer; TMK Health Services. When I think back on what it has taken to get to where we are today; it's a wonder we're even here at all. I've been with TMK Health Services since its inception. We started this company from practically nothing; just a few people around a kitchen table eating pizza and jotting down ideas. Before you knew it, we were incorporated and hitting the pavement in an effort to sell our services to healthcare facilities across the US.

When we decided to take on this endeavor, I scoured the internet looking for some direction as to how to start a healthcare staffing firm. There was a lot of material out there and we bought a bunch of it. Unfortunately, most of it was pretty weak; just a lot of topical gibberish with no true substantive training to be found. But, thankfully, through a lot of trials, bumps and bruises, we've finally gotten it all figured out.

I've been working on a program to train people/companies in the art of establishing and maintaining a healthcare staffing agency. I'd like to train a few people/companies at no cost to get their honest feedback and (if effective) testimonials. I'm thinking maybe 5 total. If this is an area that you are seriously considering getting involved with and would be open to receiving free training in exchange for being my guinea pig; please contact me with your contact info and I'll reply to schedule you for training.

Hi Kevin,

I'm Aarthi here. After working for 3 years as Research Associate in Biotech field, I'm planning to move to Healthcare recruiting. Probably this will be a good opportunity to learn from the veteran. So I'm ready to become a guinea pig :-)

Do email me the details of the training to LSANJU@YAHOO.COM

Hi Kevin,

I am interested in learning more about the healthcare staffing industry. Our company currently provides IT staffing resources and we were recently approached by a company in the home healthcare industry who might be interested in partnering with us. Your offer sounds like a great opportunity to learn more about the industry.

I can be reached anytime by phone or email and I hope to hear from you.

Kevin,
I appreciate your fairy tale ideals, but must tell you the reality of the business.
Smaller Mom & Pops don't survive, you need big agencies.
To start a healthcare staffing agency, you need capital and lots of it.
The reason there isn't any books out there, is for that reason.
Big companies don't share the secrets of raising capital
Sorry for the reality check.
Trust me Michael, I'm fully aware of the start-up capital requirements and ongoing expenses associated with this business. In fact, I know from first hand experience as I've started and presently run a healthcare staffing agency with well over 300 client facilities. The fact remains, as you've stated, the information isn't out there. So, I would imagine that if you were someone looking to start an agency, you might like to know what you're REALLY getting yourself into. That is what I'm intending to share with those who may be interested in hearing about it. Moreover, the old axiom "if I only knew then what I know now" really sums up my purpose. Now, perhaps, some of these new agencies actually will know now and avoid all of the pitfalls every other fledgling agency has faced (in vain).

If you need a decent SAAS software program to help manage the staffing agency, then you should take a look at JobAdder applicant tracking system - it will help source candidates and manage them through the interview process with ease.

Kevin, are you still offering the mentoring program for individuals starting a staffing agency?  Please contact me ejtutmem@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Eddie
