How do I see my future in recruiting? Bleak? NO WAY JOSE.
For those recruiters out there who have the basic fundamentals down I believe the future of recruiting is bright. For those simply pushing paper and looking at the business as numbers and commodities - I think they may struggle.

I believe in the 3 must haves for any Recruiter:
Networking, Coaching (Helping the talent BYOBM), and most importantly - Building Relationships!!
(Sidenote: For those who are unfamiliar with my favorite concept in life - BYOBM stands for Be Your OWN Best Marketer. It could also be Bring Your Own Brown Mittens but I prefer the former).

Let's face it - with more access via email to more talent, more clients, MORE MORE MORE - the only option to condense and facilitate is the amazingly talented recruiter. We are the screeners, the matchmakers, the first line of defense.

I'm looking forward to my next 10 years in this business in particular. The upswing from the recession, the surges in technology (the world isn't stopping at the iphone), the incredible talent skipping out of higher ed institutions every year - I have no choice but to be optimistic and sing to myself 'Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Make me a Match!"

One of the COOLEST parts of my job is learning and understanding my clients - what they make, what they do, the "hush hush" technologies they are inventing - I'm amazed everyday by what seemingly ordinary folks are making. And even cooler - I help said folks find their salvation in the form of a talent who can be a part of the growth and evolution. HOW COOL IS THAT? Pretty darn cool.

My future in recruiting - let's just say this. My future's so bright I gotta wear shades. :)
