I've been getting spammed every day by a recruiting trainer named Terry Edwards. He seems to have good ideas, but is he spamming everyone else in the industry daily about his "free" book? Has anyone read his book? Any opinions?
On another note, I have hit a pretty good milestone indicative that I'm targeting the right people in my emails, since I have had 0 complaints in the last 360,000 emails sent. None of them were sent to software engineers, though, even though my last placement was a top-level PhD software/robotics guru.
Software engineers tend to complain about 5x or 10x as often as other types of engineers, although salaries are not always competitive with other types of engineering. They also make a lot of fake complaints, obviously.
