After perusing this site for an extended period of time, I decide to make the plunge and actually join.
My name is Seth and I've been in the recruiting field for about 6 years. Started out on the agency-side, now currently overseeing the recruitment operations for a large healthcare system in Southwest Alaska (better known as the Bush).
I have seen a lot of good information on this site and figured I should join in every now and then.

Hi, Seth! I haven't been to Alaska yet, but my husband lived there for about 15 years. His daughter still lives there, so sometime I guess we might make a visit there. In the summer, of course!
How long have you been an internal recruiter now?
1 year, 4 months. I actually live most of my "recruiter" moments vicariously through my staff these days as I am spending most of my time on strategy (rebuilding our program, rewriting policies and processes, compliance and developing my staff)--which I absolutely love. I still find some time to roll my sleeves up and get into the dirty work most of my days, but no where near the 60-70+/week that I used to do. It's a nice change, and I think my hair loss has slowed.
Welcome Seth....good to have you on board! Tell us more about that transition...sound interesting.
Welcome to the RBC Seth and best of luck building your desk.
Transition was, how shall I say, different. Going from a sales-based position focusing on a few different healthcare specialties to overseeing an operation with, at my last count, 600+ unique positions (granted, should they all be unique? Probably not) and about 600-700 hires, 200+ position transfers, less than 100 promotions per year was straining to say the least. All that while having to "clean up" broken processes and relationships that were left in a tumult of high turnover (when I started, I was the 5th or 6th incumbent in my role in 7 years).
Transitioning out of the client-centric mentality (they say jump, I say how high) to a organizational-centric mentality (if I take this action, what would the ripple effect across the organization be) was interesting.
Things have calmed down though and we're making a lot of headway. I can truly say that I love my job.
