Hello.  We are a small, privately held IT Staffing firm and looking to replace our old out-dated candidate tracking system.  After wading through a list of a 140 or so options I've narrowed down my list to:
  • Bullhorn
  • JobDiva
  • Taleo
  • Sendouts
  • Maxhire
  • TargetRecruit
Would love to get feedback from others in the Staffing world on which tools they've used and prefer, what features really stood out that they actually got real world benefit from, customer service, etc.  If you've gone through a migration to one of these tools would love to hear how that went as well.

I can completely relate to your predicament. I went through the same process. I put together an ATS assessment team and we tackled the huge project of figuring out which ATS system was the best solution for our practice. It was an exhausting experience that took much longer than I had anticipated. After a year of searching and researching the many options we finalized our decision with Bullhorn. We are a privately held agency with a practice exclusive to sales.

I have a question here. Does it have to be spontaneous combustion for a testimonial to be valid? Is there something wrong with any company or sales rep seeing a question about products and asking satisfied customers to comment? Just asking as i see people asking for recs about their product or service all over the place from people who use the product or service and like it.
Sandra - not only do we have the same company name (Professional Search) we must have been twins separated at birth. I thought the exact same thing when I read the above reply.

I don't see anything wrong - even if Bullhorn did ask Dan to drop in. The thread was started by someone wanting some input on which ATS to use. I really can't see anyone other than an actual user of each system being able to offer any advice whatsoever.......so it only makes sense that anyone giving actual advice would be an actual user.

P.S.S. ATS's in general are overrated.

LOL. Let's face it Albright we are both just crusty old recruiters. I don't have an ATS either. Tried a couple of them and not sure if it was the technology or operator error but i do just fine with Outlook. I never miss a chance when somebody is raving about another recruiter to have some of my successful relationships take a look and give me a few kudos if they are so inclined.

The question is Jer. Which of us is the ugly twin? since i am older i guess i will take that title. I am also more bitchy than you so i guess i earned it. :) Just wait about 10 years you will probably sound like i do. Now there is a threat.

Rayanne - I had the exact same thought about LinkedIn recs myself. Uh might do your spell check on that Calvary analogy. Jer is a lot of things but i think it might be the cavalry as in horse soldiers as opposed to the ultimate savior. :)

More than welcome for the vino. I drink a lot of toasts in absentia it makes the travel a lot less expensive in terms of time and money and i have all the fun while everybody else has all the hangovers.

Hate to be churlish, but I can fill this thread with 50 "testimonals" but whats the point ? None will include any negative info, since they are all at the request of the vendor, and nobody wants to NOT do a good job when asked for a favor.

That's why its called 'hijacking" a thread when you take one and turn it for your own use. Are any of these statements really supposed to be helpful to the original poster or they intended as stand alone ads ?

I know that Jason does not appreciate it any more than I do - would that change opinions of the practice ?

Marty - A member asked about some specific products. People with experience with those tools came and said good things. Unless they are the owners or paid actors - what's the problem?

If you can load this thing up with 50 users who will come on over and tell us how much they love your product - then you should do it. I think it would be great and don't see why anyone here would be upset with you for doing just that.

It wouldn't change my opinion Marty. If i were the original poster i would contact one or two of the individuals who posted personally to see what they thought. If you had asked some of your satisfied customers to do the same i would also contact them.

I would see it as a stand alone ad and a hijacking if you or the Bullhorn reps or reps for any product posted them yourselves multiple times but not if you or anyone else asked someone to comment that i would have no way of knowing used any of the products.

I would suggest that you post a list with contact information of satisfied clients that the poster could check with if they so choose.

If there is concern that there is hijacking going on perhaps it would be good to suggest that you or anyone else who wants to offer testimonials simply post a list of satisfied customers and their contact info, who would be willng to speak with anyone evaluating.

I provide references from satisfied clients when i know someone is looking for a recruiter so i see these as references solicited or unsolicited that give people the opportunity to check me out or check out products.
Sandra who we work with and what we do for them is not something that we would post on the open Internet without specific permission each time, which would be pretty rare indeed. We have dozens and dozens of household name customers, but you are not going to see us pounding that fact into the ground.

Lots of companies like to pimp their clients all over the place, but it only attracts safety buyers anyway and in my mind, it's not in keeping with the nature of the recruiting business - while being discreet and contained is in keeping with that model. We don't even do press releases (unless asked to participate in one) for the same reason. People in the know will find us just fine.....

If our customers want to speak up, that's great and more power to em. If a qualified prospect wants to speak with some references, by all means, we can arrange that.

I'm surprised you dont see that if a vendor asks you to post a glowing tale, even if its all true, that it's not balanced, and can't be, because the poster is doing a favor for the vendor, and not the original thread starter ? It also easily gives the impression that the hijacker has more market or mindshare than they may actually have, because the other vendors are not equally 'jacking the thread.

If we all did it , every thread would be just dozens of boilerplate paragraphs saying nothing beyond ad-talk you could find anywhere.

Jerry becuase having those 50 post on every thread would be a bore for them and everyone else.

I'm also not quite understanding how you don't realize that if a key strategic vendor of yours asks you to do something for them, your then doing it ain't exactly 100% out of the goodness of your heart. It may not be paid, but it's hardly pure alturism-and again, most customers are only too happy to be able to help- people have good hearts and appreciate good service- but don't imagine that they are not pushing a viewpoint in an un-influenced way.
