I just spent a wonderful day with my family. Twenty-four of us gathered at my mother's house in Las Vegas and this wasn't even everyone. Food, family and football. Is there anything better? Networking at it's rawest form. Gathering together and breaking bread.

I sat at a table with my cousin's husband, a Design Strategist, and spoke to him for hours about the importance of an online presence - of stepping up to the plate and taking a swing at the wonder that is new media. The lack of knowledge by the general public and average working professional still surprises me. This is a business tactic so embedded in my practice now that I marvel at those that haven't yet embraced it.

It is daunting to most, the time required for full investment causes most to hesitate and withdraw from the process altogether. I firmly believe that businesses and business owners that fail to engage and actively participate in new media will struggle significantly to find success and maintain it.

I tell others, on a consistent basis, to watch the recruiting industry - they "we" are the trend-setters in communications. A good path to follow.

Networking. Warm Calls. Engagement. Work. Good Work.
Welcome to new media.
