Are video resumes the future? Or are they another way to discriminate w/o giving the applicant a chance? What do you think?

No, they're not the wave of the future, unless of course you are going for an on-air reporter job or actor/actress then they might be relevant. Otherwise, no, all they do is show how comfortable you are in front of a camera, something that has no relevance for 99% of jobs.

But, the main reason, for me anyway, is that they are simply not an effective use of time. I can screen a resume in seconds and determine if I want to know more. Watching a video just takes too long, time that could better spent doing other recruiting activities.
Hi Pam,

I can't help but wonder where this will all lead. I mean, I am a gadget queen but there are limits, you know? I would prefer reading a well prepared resume- where thought was actually put into it so that I know that this person is someone that I would enjoy meeting etc. In a sense, the whole genre has become so "cookie-cutter" like that we have lost the fine art of writing well or presenting well.

I guess people forget that resumes are actually read at some point by people who don't want to be bored to sobs!

Thank you for responding!
