Is it a helpful tool or an impediment to the job seeker when applying for an opportunity with corporate America? I'm hearing more negatives than positives, and that their support org is weak.
Well, Taleo has its issues and weaknesses. But I find it is one of the better and relatively user friendly systems there are on the market. Anyway it depends on the company using Taleo exactly how annoying they make the application process to candidates. To my mind an online application should not take more than 8-10 minutes. So this is how our application workflow has been designed in Taleo. In general an ATS is absolutely important for any organization that has more than two people doing recruiting.
As for Taleo's support, I think it's the best you can get with a 24/7 live person chat and very timely responses on incidents. Not every agent is great, but however there are some really good and helpful people in their support org.
