What features do you need to see in a new sourcing tool to make it a viable option for you to incorporate the tool into your routine?

I tend to see a lot of buzz about sourcing tools that present nothing new. Assuming we are crowd sourcing to create a new tool, what features would you include?

I need to see:

  1. A serious search interface. Boolean is great but I need the tool to make search easy for recruiters. Similar to Monsters SeeMore.
  2. I was more control over filters

I do not want to see:

  1. The same search interface of adding keywords and job titles.
  2. a tool that has no backbone in offering a credible CRM function

The tool needs to be joined up properly with front end (agency recruitment, job board) systems and existing back office systems, so a well worked out API. There's too many "standalone" good ideas out there. The one that works best will be the one that in best linked to whatever everyone else is using 'around' it.

Dave - I couldn't agree more. I see the challenge with a lot of stand alone solutions is that they do to work well with established tools already in place with organizations. I think the smarter play is to build the technology to be licensed into these products.

I'd like a very large button - right in the middle - called "Create Placement" < I would click it repeatedly.
