Who would believe that in his terrible job market, I would have a hard time hiring someone. I have recently been trying to add to our sales staff here at Arthur Rose Associates and I thought there would be some good people available who are out of work through no fault of their own. Now, I'm not talking about hiring a $300k biller from my competition, I'm talking about hiring one of the account executives from Yahoo! or the Ladders that was recently let go. I put together a competitive package of base+commission, purchased some training materials, have a good recruiting machine already built, so you would think someone would jump at the chance to work here. Was I mistaken. I interviewed 4 or 5 people over the phone and a few in person. The ones that were good, would rather stay unemployed than learn a new business. Whatever happened to poor, smart and hungry? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
