Comment by Steve Shannon on April 21, 2009 at 12:18pm: Our company is a small independent construction based recruiting firm and I for one am not seeing any improvement soon in construction, at least not much in management. We specialize in construction and the architectural firms, construction companies, and engineering companies that we have been in contact with are not hiring now. I think when hiring begins to improve that most companies will go after the people that they laid off before they hire new. I we have a free lance draftsman in our building who is practically giving his service away to keep busy. We are offering the first placement free just to get new clients who we hope will come back again for more candidates. We hope that things will turn around sooner than later but I am not holding my breath. I would be interested to here what the other members think.
