El Dave Bobblehead Charity Fundraiser, "Make A Wish" Foundation

Can Bobble Head's rule the world? probably not, but they can make you laugh your way to the top. Help us think of a creative way to use this idea to raise money for charity.

Wow, we have really attracted the best and brightest on recruiting blogs into this group! Then again, maybe you all just join every group and that is why you are the best and brightest, well enough buttering up.

I have given this some thought and have an idea for the Charity Auction and would like input from anyone.

What if we use the Bobble Head as a prize to give away with an auction leading up to recruitfest or at it. The winner of the competition would be the model for the next year's auction. Each year has a different theme if it continues.

It could be for a contest too, but I would need someone more creative than I am to figure it out.

So, I would appreciate your 2 cents on the issue, and I would like to know if anyone would like to help get either project up and running.

Someone just told me that this bobble head is a secret. No one was supposed to know except the people who had them.

What good is a bobble head that is only one half inche tall? I'll make a donation but I think one of my cats would use the doll as a play toy...

Does that actually exist in real life?

OH MY GOD! I donate $200 of personal funds toward the El Dave initiative. This is the best thing I have ever seen... what do I have to do to get one.

El Dave Bobblehead (EDB) jhthe New Teddy Bear for Wishes! I want to first thank Julia and Jerry for the overall push and esp Jerry for implementing the prototype design out of his own pocket.

That said, my initial idea starts with an inquiry. We need to learn what the cost of the EDB is if purchased in bulk and what type of volume that will take to make the margin sufficient enough to develop a profit.

Now on this end I have an idea: Perhaps if we propose to the bobblehead company that we wish to market this item for "Make A Wish" we can have them reduce the overhead price per piece and in exchange we can state this is a fantastic marketing opportunity for them given that we could promote this within our 16,000 member community here at RBC not to mention on SixDegrees the group and its 12,000 members. It would be foolish of them not to consider the benefit of giving it to us at cost in ehange for mass marketing of the company itself.

We can have Jerry's wife collaborate with Make a Wish to perhaps provide a letter testifying to the fact of our well intentioned project to add credibility to seal the deal to drive the cost down.

Now once the price per unit issue is resolved, we then have various ways to market this good cause
1) We contact the blogosphere with a logo and link to be added to participating blogs
2) Have Recruiting Animal interview Julia and Jerry on the cause.
3) Whereas we know it is the El Dave Bobblehead, the moniker is "Thee Networking Idol" doll for the recruitosphere. Tap His head for good luck on placements!
4) I promote via various campaigns in my SixDegrees group but the message should be co signed by both of you because its weird me promoting my own likeness, right?
5) We set up a mini campaign message to vendors, seeking three who are willing to underwrite the initial bulk purchase of EDB so no one's personal wallets dry up. I can imagine a few companies who will see the fun and innovative aspect esp the good cause - it may even be worth talking to David Perry about letting his friends at Wall Street Journal know about it. He seems to get them to write his latest inputs handidly.

So we have various streams: recruitment agencies and their staffs, individual recruiters, the Linkedin Lions, the recruitosphere, and vendors who can by these in bulk and have them on display by the time Kennedy Expo comes around.

I really think this is doable and the cause is fantastic, let alone we will have jokes galore to make for the next 365 days.

OK, perhaps you think this group is a little quirky, perhaps you expect such behavior from me. Well, there is a story behind it. We have had alot of discussions around bobble heads. Jerry Albright was the first to suggest that as a "thank-you" to Dave Mendoza for all of his great Six Degree Stories, we should create a bobble head. Well the idea took off & we have had several chats about the bobble heads.

I think a Bobble Head mascot for RBC would be, to quote Rayanne, Hi-larious. Just think, a Dave Bobble-head with silk spun hair that tosses to one side when bobbled!

Well, I thought someone else might have a better idea, so i am asking for suggestions before taking it to the mgmt (slouch).

Ideas?

Why is the bobble guy a doctor? He's wearing a long white coat. Too much reading up on immunoassays?
