My dear friend, fellow raconteur and recruitment industry correspondent, Peter Clayton (Total Picture Radio,
www.totalpicture.com) caught me on a good day and grilled me in his usual “inside edition” ultra-inquisitive way on what’s been going on with LinkedIn lately.
This is a follow up to Peter’s extremely well done interview from last year’s Spring Kennedy Conference. In this interview Peter asked me about some of the new features that have been added to LinkedIn since last year, including the titillating “Company Profile Pages” (several hundred thousand of them) which I consider to be the closes thing to competitive intelligence for recruiters. Other provocative questions include:
Peter: There’s always a debate regarding open networking (linking) on LinkedIn - what is your advice?
Shally: My response is bilateral and considers people on either side of the fence.
Peter: Why should professionals invest their time in developing a LinkedIn profile?
Shally: I have to say I answered this differently than I did six months ago – find out why.
Peter: Obviously, LinkedIn is not the only game in town. What about Pulse, Naymz, Ryze, eAcademy, and the plethora of other professional networks that I get regularly invited to join?
Shally: I’m not going to ruin the surprise but I will tell you that you may not like the answer to this one if you’ve invested time in some of the above :)
Peter: What’s the buzz in the recruiting industry? (How’s business)
Shally: Great! Ok… I know you want more details so listen in.
Peter: What’s the best way for professionals to connect with recruiters?
Shally: Uh… pick up the phone. But seriously, if you are looking for a job (yes, even if you are a recruiter) I lay out a few strategies here which have worked for me and for a few of my friends
Peter: Anything new, cool, and interesting you’d like to share with our audience?
Shally: Yes but this one I can’t spoil so listen to the full audio broadcast click here:
