I run an Executive Search Company in India and I am a little worried about the survival and growth of Executive Search Business across the world.  With increasing trend and popularity of job portals, social networking and internal recruitment teams, what are the real prospects of  Executive Search Business.  Would love to hear comments from the core recruiting professionals/business owners.

If a client can find candidates themselves, then they don't need you. It's always been that way. So, the best clients are the ones that don't have large internal recruiting teams (yes, they also use outside agencies, just not as much) and, clients that are competing to hire in a candidate's market. Recruiting opportunities wax and wane, just like the economy.

The issue in recruiting isn't finding candidates, we can all do that. If your focus is providing candidates without crafting the hire, then there will be problems. The candidate relationship, and the ability to work directly with the hiring manager to close the deal is the service that clients pay for, even if they think they are paying you for sourcing.
