Hi, Everyone.
I'm hoping to get your advice.
I have a strong technical background with a lot of biz dev. I got into tech recruiting for a company a couple of years ago (aside from some recruiting for a small we dev company for six years) - and I loved it. I discovered I had an intuitive knack for picking good candidates and sourcing really quickly due to my combined technical knowledge and people skills.
But then, they had to start laying people off....You know the story.
I have a diverse background (that includes lots of project/product mgmt, which helped me a lot finding good candidates too), but 'd love to continue recruiting. Problem is, if you look at my resume, my recruiting work is small compared to the PJM/PM work (i.e., you'd love to present me for that role).
I was told by a recruiter that companies want to only hire "young" (like 20's) "rookie" recruiters because they don't have to pay them much ("sad but true" according to him). My resume doesn't paint me as young.I could take off experience, but I also think that experience (if someone can see that) makes me a better sourcer/recruiter.
What would you recommend? I'd love to even start out just sourcing for someone PT.
I'd appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks!

Kaira,
I'd be happy to talk with you if you want to give me a call on Monday. Given your product management background you might enjoy recruiting for the types of searches we focus on. I'm actually looking to hire at the moment as well so would be happy to discuss the market in general. Shoot me an email at pam@customsearchgroup.com and let's try to connect on Monday.

Hi Kaira,
Saw your request and would suggest you go with your strengths (experience counts) rather than leaving them off of your resume.
You sound flexible in terms of FT and PT. Does that include relocation? Obviously the more flexible and negotiable you are the more opportunities will be available to you.
Since I do not have your resume handy I cannot comment on it, but it sounds strong.
Feel free to call me at: (636) 394-8155 or reach me at: vbmartinezgroup@accessus.net
Wishing you only success in your career endeavors.
