Recruitment consultants planning to set up a new company targeting Scotland will be glad to hear that the jobs market north of the border is getting better, it has been reported.

The environment has continued to improve for four months in a row, but continues to underperform compared to the wider UK, the Bank of Scotland Labour Market Barometer stated.

According to the measure, which takes into consideration the demand for workers, employment rates, and the number of people available for work, the barometer is at a two-year high.

Donald MacRae, chief economist at Bank of Scotland, explained that it is "very reassuring to see the recovery in the Scottish labour market continuing".

"Temporary employment growth has accelerated to its fastest rate since August 2007 and the number of vacancies open to applicants looking for long-term employment has risen for the fourth month in a row," he added.

Recruiters were recently advised by an insider to find a niche in the market to increase their chances of succeeding in business.
