Male unemployment has fallen, according to new figures, which may interest those intending to set up a recruitment agency.

The study, published by the Office for National Statistics, shows that male employment fell by 70,000 from April to June.

Fewer men were claiming jobseekers allowance during this period, with the number of claimants falling 7,100 in July from the previous month.

However, the number of unemployed women has risen by 21,000 from April to July.

The unemployment rate for women has now increased to almost seven per cent.

In seven of the 12 regions looked at, the unemployment rate was above the national average of 4.5 per cent.

Recently, a study from the International Labour Organisation revealed that unemployment among young people is at its highest and fewer youths are hopeful about finding employment.
