The number of finance jobs in London is increasing, which may be of interest to those trying to set up a recruitment agency.

According to figures from Astbury Marsden, a recruitment company, finance jobs in London's Square Mile are becoming increasingly available.

Last month, the number of positions available climbed by seven per cent to reach 5,031 - up from 4,713 in the previous month. This is also a 21 per cent increase from August 2009.

The firm notes that fund managers, who are often the last to increase hiring after a recession, have also started to created new positions.

It was also noted that those who choose to switch firms will be rewarded with up to a 15 per cent pay increase due to the elevated risk of changing employer in the current economic situation.

Recent research from Badenoch & Clark shows that HR professionals are becoming more valued by employers as the task of finding suitable employees has become more difficult during the recession.
