One-third of jobseekers are concerned that a lack of qualifications could be negatively affecting their chances of employment, which may be of interest to those intending to set up a recruitment agency.

The research, carried out by the Home Learning College and reed.co.uk, shows that out of 4,000 jobseekers interviewed, 32 per cent cited having too few qualifications as a problem.

However, 21 per cent of interviewees commented that their degree has not helped advance their career.

Frustrations with their employment situation were voiced by 28 per cent of respondents, although 62 per cent expressed confidence that they would get their desired position within six months.

Recently, Carl Andrew of the Guardian commented that students have to do increasing amounts of extracurricular activities and work experience in order to compete successfully with their peers.
