The effects of training on job satisfaction and wages have been investigated, the findings of which may be of interest to those intending to set up a recruitment agency.

Research carried out by the Department of Work and Pensions looks at the relationship between training during employment and job satisfaction and wages, as well as the number of employees currently likely to receive training.

The study found that training is more commonly received by public sector workers, women, young people and those in the non-profit sector.

It also uncovered that since 2005 the number of people who undergo training has been falling, aside from those aged over 50.

Respondents who have received training were more likely to have seen an increase in pay, except those aged under 20.

Job satisfaction varied more among those receiving training during employment than those who do not, with respondents equally likely to report an increase in job satisfaction or dissatisfaction.

Recently, a survey by Kelly Business Services found workers think they would work harder and be happier in a company if they owned shares or had a stake in the company's profits.
